"We have just been in a commercial mission in China, and if it is very important (the dredging), we have been very impressed with the ports and one of the questions that were mandatory was precisely the depth (which it must have)".
The depth that is occupied, he said, is 15.2 (meters) up.
"In order to aspire to be a high altitude port, where larger vessels can come (draft), there are ships that have already reached 21 thousand containers, it is crazy, but what you are thinking of having is 15.3 (meters) in Mazatlán ",
With those 15.3 (meters) of depth, he said, Mazatlan will go to another level.
"The one that convinced us most and that we believe we can do something in the future with Mazatlan is Hutchinson Ports," he said.
Last year, he added, the API Mazatlán closed with close to 40 thousand containers, but the expectations are that the port can move up to 300 thousand containers.
The interest to build a "dry port" in Mazatlan near the airport was also mentioned.
"We learned that the dry ports are worth, there may be something around the airport, without major problems, and in China, where the consolidation of containers is about 35 kilometers from the official port, then there is no reason not to do so. in Mazatlan, "he stressed.
