The US Department of State and the Government of Canada have exempted Mazatlan, Sinaloa for the travel alert to its citizens who wish to spend their holidays in this port. The Canadian government reported on its website voyage.gc.ca/destinations/mexique that every year more than 1.5 million Canadians visit Mexico and most of them do so without problems.

Through the site, the Office of Foreign Affairs, Trade and Development issues suggestions and safety recommendations to its citizens in Mexico not to be victims of crime.

According to a statement from the state government, last July 12, for the second consecutive time in 8 months, the port of Mazatlan has been exempt from travel alerts issued by the US government's State Department.

The Department of State, through the Office of Consular Affairs, recommended that its citizens travel to Mazatlán to visit safe areas such as the Golden Zone, the Historic Center, as well as use direct transportation routes to these tourist sites and the airport.

This information, disseminated to US visitors, is the same that the government of that country has maintained towards Mazatlan since November 20, 2012 and which exempts the port from travel alerts.
